Dressmaking Masterclass
Learn how to make your own clothes from scratch, that actually fit! Spend two consecutive Sundays with our wonderfully talented seamstress, Pam Sayer, who has a solid 20 years’ professional dressmaking experience under her belt. Pam will teach you how to construct a fitted top using a commercial pattern as your starting point, but tailoring and customising it to fit and suit you perfectly.
You’ll learn how to measure yourself, how to read and use a commercial pattern. You’ll learn how to adjust the design to suit your shape, size and preference. Pam will take you through cutting, fitting and altering. You’ll set in sleeves, insert a standard zip, put in a facing and learn how to hand-hem, before finishing and pressing to achieve an impressive, professional look!
You’ll need to purchase 2 metres of your chosen fabric (light to medium weight poly-cotton or 100% cotton fabric would be best), a spool of matching thread and a 10” matching standard zip. The pattern and all other materials are provided. Please bring a packed lunch for the day or there are some lovely cafe’s around if you’d like to pop out. (tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided).
Suitable for anyone who knows their way around a sewing machine. Not suitable for beginners - it is advised that you attend our ‘Learn to Sew’ workshop as a precursor to this one: Cushions, Tote Bag, Bunting
Tutor: Pam Sayer
