Now that we’re closer to getting the interior of The Makery just the way we like it (only a few more shelves to fill now!), the sunny weather has prompted us to tackle the garden. We’ve been staring at it for weeks now, eager to use the space for suitable workshops and parties. Hedge trimmers, saw and secateurs at the ready, we ventured out into the wilderness! We gathered a pretty mean crew to tackle our overgrown garden; it was like a jungle out there! But it was soon clear that we were in for a treat. We pulled down the rotten fence at the end of our Makery garden, and were amazed to find a beautiful Bath view! It’s been a heck of a job to cut through the overgrown ivy and brambles, but we’re pleased to report that the garden is now clear and looking gorgeous! The seagulls even make it feel a bit like you’re on holiday!
We’ve got great plans for the Makery garden this summer. We’d like to build a clay oven so we can make stone baked pizzas out there. We’ve been reclaiming as many bits and bobs as we can to use as flower and veggie pots; old pots, teapots, buckets and the like. And we’d love to run some outdoor workshops if the weather holds up, so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to add your comments below!
Weather-permitting, we’re going to use our garden on Friday morning for The Makery Cafe. For those of you who aren’t aware, The Makery Cafe runs every Friday from 10-1 and is generally considered to be more fun than you can wave a bramble branch at! We open our doors to anyone wanting to come along and spend some time working on a creative project whilst munching on some of our scrumptious homemade cake and freshly brewed tea or coffee. It costs £5 an hour, and also includes use of our sewing machines and tools, expert tuition and support if it’s required and the shared inspiration and ideas of the Makery folk! Well, lets hope it’s a nice day and if you fancy popping along on Friday, we would love to welcome you and show off our brand new outside retreat in bustling Bath!
